On November 14 at 4:50 PM, students and parents gathered to explore the field of computer science at the Comp-Sci event hosted by Ms. Anara Bazarkulova. This engaging event showcased the school’s offerings in computer science through an interactive presentation.
Attendees learned about paid certifications in JavaScript, Python, Networking, and Java, as well as college credit classes for those beginning their programming journeys. A key highlight of the evening was the introduction of a groundbreaking “Networking” class, the first of its kind in the U.S., paired with a Cybersecurity curriculum. This innovative course provides students with hands-on experience in cybersecurity fundamentals and culminates in CodeHS Cybersecurity and CompTIA Network+ certifications. Starting next year, the course will be available as an AP class, further enhancing students’ college readiness in IT.
The event also featured Kahoot trivia and prize opportunities, where students won spirit T-shirts, free dress passes, and extra credit. Presenters highlighted previous trips and celebrated the achievements of students who earned certifications and excelled on AP exams.
In addition to the presentations, guests enjoyed speeches from Mr. Karabulut, Ms. Kabakci, and Rodney Nauert, the father of a current computer science student. Snacks were served, making the event both informative and enjoyable for all attendees.
This event underscored the school’s commitment to preparing students for future careers in technology while fostering a passion for learning in computer science.
